They asked for a two-year prison sentence for Neymar! | Goal.com Hungary
The Brazilian classic was brought before the Spanish courts on charges of fraud and corruption.
Neymar was seen in Barcelona, but the PSG player is not negotiating with his former club, but was allowed to sit on the dock due to a 9-year-old case. As you can remember, the Brazilian classic transferred from the Brazilian Santos to the Catalan team in 2013, however, not only his parent club, but also the DIS group had to benefit from the purchase price, as they owned 40 percent of Neymar’s playing rights at the time.
At the time, Barcelona stated that they paid 57 million euros for Neymar, but investigative reporters later talked about a 100 million deal, and because of the possible family, DIS reported the player, as well as the two presidents of the garnet-red-blues, Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell.
The investigations ended with an indictment, the Spanish prosecutor’s office requested a two-year prison sentence for the player, who, since he has no criminal record, will not have to go behind bars even in case of a conviction. He can only face a $10 million fine. The two teams won’t get away cheaply either: if corruption is proven, Barcelona can pay 9 million, while Santos can pay 7 million more to the state coffers.
