Ukraine offers reward for tip about MH17 suspect who is also looking for the Netherlands NOW
Ukraine is offering a reward of 100,000 dollars (almost 103,000 euros) for tips that ensure that Igor Girkin is arrested. The Russian wanted because of his being also with the MH17.
Ukraine’s defense ministry says the country wants Girkin rights because of his “participation in the war against our state”. Ukraine sees Girkin as one of the Russian terrorists.
Girkin played an important role in Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. According to Ukrainian media, he is currently at the front in eastern Ukraine. Ministry on Telegram: “No war criminals are punished and some escape.”
The Netherlands is also looking for Girkin. After a long investigation, he was targeted as one of the four main suspects for the downing of flight MH17.
In the plane crash on 17 July 2014, all 298 people on board, including 193 Dutchmen, were killed. The plane was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, but was shot down over eastern Ukraine. There was an armed struggle going on at the time.
The prosecution has demanded a life sentence against Girkin. The court in The Hague will report on November 17 in the case concerning flight MH17.
