Public lighting, heating but also public transport are at the center of the measures taken by Jean-Luc Moudenc, Thursday, October 13, 2022, to fight against the energy crisis. The mayor of Toulouse announced 25, and Tisséo will be affected by this set of developments.
Spaced frequencies for the metro (in off-peak hours)
“We take seriously the threat of energy shortage, declared the mayor (LR) of the Pink City, a few weeks before a winter which will bring, with it, a wave of uncertainties. And so that these are the least restrictive possible, Jean-Luc Moudenc then announced close discussions with Tisséo, “ to adjust metro frequencies during off-peak hours. It is not a question of creating discomfort but rather looking at the times where there is a lower frequency to space out the frequencies of passage ”.
President of Tisséo, Jean-Michel Lattes explained that the waiting time will increase by ” 20 seconds during off-peak hours on weekdays, and 40 seconds during off-peak hours on weekends.
Téléo will close sooner
For the cable car, which stops its service at 12:30 a.m. since mid-May 2022, the date of its commissioning, sleep will occur 150 minutes earlier. “We are going to interrupt the service at 10 p.m., which makes it possible to take into account the start and end of service times of the caregivers of the hospital, justifies Jean-Luc Moudenc. It is also allowed that the bus connections to be able to endure. »
And if the first city councilor left Tisséo the choice of a date to launch these measures concerning public transport, the service sticks to the calendar for which the town hall has opted, since it indicates to Toulouse News that “these measures will take effect in the winter time changeover night“. In other words, October 30.
An exploding electric bill
On the sidelines of the presentation of these measures, Jean-Luc Moudenc recalled that “the metro, the cable car and the tram run on electricity”. And the inflated bill. “Annually, it is 6 million euros. In 2023, it will be 30 million euros. We cannot remain idle,” he reacted.
