Clermont: Gastien regrets the draw, Clément “very proud” of his players
AS Monaco received Clermont Foot 63 this Sunday afternoon as part of the eleventh day of Ligue 1. A meeting which ended in a draw one goal everywhere while Wissam Ben Yedder left in the first period and that Mohamed Camara left the Principality club at ten from the 17th minute of play. After the final whistle of the match, the reactions were obviously different between the Monegasque coach and the Auvergne coach.
Philip Clement:
“Few teams playing 70 minutes ten against eleven manage to win points. The players received a blow in Trabzon (0-4), with, in addition, the fatigue of a match and a long trip. At the moment, all the negative scenarios are in our heads. We reorganized into a 4-4-1, with an attacker who can play alone against two or three defenders. On the right a player like Diatta, with power in duels and the ability to make quick transitions. I’m very proud of my players and how they reacted. This week I will finally be able to give my players some recovery. There is training on Monday, then two days off. Then, we can prepare Lille for three days. »
Pascal Gastien:
“I have mixed feelings. Given the circumstances, I think we could and should do better. But I’m not disappointed to take a point in Monaco. It is something positive, the result in itself is positive. But I’m not fooled, we played ten against eleven for a long time. We managed to equalize, which was not easy. At halftime, I felt that they were catchable. When you come to Monaco and you have a chance to win, you shouldn’t miss it. But we lacked impact and changes of pace. We lacked fluidity in the game. This allowed them to slide well. They are a superior team to us. But the eviction has rebalanced things. On the garner of points. For us, this is crucial. On the same number of points as at mid-season last year. We will try to take as many points as possible from the last four games. »
