Near Toulouse: a “serial burglar” confused by his DNA, arrested by the gendarmes
The hi-fi and audiovisual equipment disappeared as if by magic from the houses of the small town of Beauzelle north of Toulouse, the “serial burglar” has just been arrested by the gendarmes. He was identified by his DNA.
Between May and August 2022, a wave of burglaries hit the small town of Beauzelle north of Toulouse. 11 homes had been emptied of their multimedia equipment. This had generated a beginning of psychosis among the inhabitants. Break-ins were always committed at the same hours, during the night, according to the same modus operandi, resulting in thinking that these untimely intrusions bore the mark of the same thief…
The intuition of the gendarmes turned out to be correct. The city’s soldiers targeted a 27-year-old man known to have engaged in this kind of lucrative escapades in the past. He was confused by his DNA detected at the scene of the burglaries. The gendarmes arrested him on October 14 in the Andromède district of Beauzelle. By searching his home, they found a stolen phone but not in one of the homes “visited” by this individual but no trace of the loot amassed for several months.
Placed in police custody, he was explained to the investigators “having bought this phone without knowing that it came from a theft”. As for the 11 burglaries committed in his town, he fiercely denies being the author despite the presence of his DNA in each “visited” home. Brought before the public prosecutor, he appeared this Monday before the criminal court to answer for this impressive series of offenses.
