two days to understand the pedagogy of trauma
On October 27 and 28, SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg is organizing the fourth edition of the international conference on the pedagogy of trauma. The format is more hybrid and accessible.
Laughter, a refuge against suffering? » and « Acting against the feeling of powerlessness in crisis situations » are the main themes of this new edition of the international conference on the pedagogy of trauma. After the success of the three previous editions, SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg returns for two days dedicated to the pedagogy of trauma, on October 27 and 28.
The conferences will take place in German and French and are aimed more particularly at people who, in the context of their professional or private daily life, encounter traumatized children and adolescents. Educators, teachers or pedagogues are therefore invited to participate, either at Neumünster Abbey or via a live broadcast. In the continuity of the conferences, a workshop, whose objective is to translate the theoretical contributions by linking them to practices, will take place.
“Contribute to a better understanding”
For SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg, knowledge of pedagogy of trauma constituting the foundations of its daily work with children, adolescents and families: “The organization of this conference represents a flagship event of our foundation and is part of our educational work through our concept, states Valérie Oberlé, director of SOS Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg. Thus, by making this expertise accessible, by raising awareness, but also by ensuring a transfer of knowledge in this very particular field, we will contribute to a better understanding of the behavior of children and adolescents.
Through research in psychotraumatology and neurobiology, professionals are now able to better identify psychological trauma on the development and behavior of children and adolescents. The pedagogy of trauma thus offers a wide range of possibilities to promote self-perception, emotion regulation, resilience and participation.
Benefits and quirks of humor
Thus, on October 27, Pr Marie Anaut will address the benefits of humor, as well as its shortcomings. On October 28, Prof. Menno Baumann examines the question of how pedagogues can have access to their possibilities of action in these particularly difficult situations. To this end, two models will be presented: a model representing the dynamics of reciprocal crisis between the young person and the pedagogue, and a model of evolving conflict escalation.
