Famous Japanese restaurant Kumiko Izakaya bankrupt | Brussels
BrusselsThe popular restaurant in Aalststraat is no more. According to their social media, Kumiko Izakaya has been closed permanently, and the website has also been taken offline. The owner could not be reached for comment.
The restaurant opened in 2017 and was conceived on Izakayas, a Japanese concept that develops restaurants and bars. On the menu are different dishes: ramen, burgers and Asian snacks. In the large courtyard it was nice to catch up over a drink and a snack.
Events took place regularly in the ground floor. It was therefore one of the events in the Dansaert district. There are, among other things, several editions of Brikabrak door, a collective of young Brussels DJs. “As a music lover, Kumiko was the coolest bar to go to,” says Ingmar Doumen (Yooth), co-founder of Brikabrak. “They also gave opportunities to young music promoters like me. Eternal gratitude.”
The closure has not yet been confirmed, but the website has already been taken offline. The proprietor could not be reached for comment.
