Dozens of children killed in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan – ANHA | HAWARNEWS
Children are targeted on the side of the security forces during protests in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan. Protests continue after the killing of 22-year-old Kurdish girl Zhina Amini in Tehran by morality police on September 16.
The US-based Human Rights Defense News Agency (HRANA) said at least 18 children were killed with the September threat.
“VICTIMS AGED 11 TO 17”
According to Amnesty International, at least 23 children were killed by Iranian security forces. The victims were between the ages of 11 and 17, Amnesty International said.
The Iranian Children’s Rights Threat said fewer than 28 children were killed, mostly in the Sistan province of Balochistan.
The Iran-based initiative claimed that the families were not informed of the fate of the children and that they were denied legal representation.
UNICEF: WE ARE CONCERNED
According to the Iran Wire website, Iranian human rights lawyer Hassan Reisi noted that some children meet in centers where adult drug addicts live. Reisy said the information was very disturbing and noted that children under the age of 18 should not be kept among criminals. He said: “About 300 children aged 12-13 to 18-19 are in detention.”
UNICEF also stated that they were very concerned about this information and noted that there were children killed, injured and abused.
Iranian Education Minister Yusuf Nouri admitted that children were detained on the street or in educational institutions: “There are not many of them. I can’t give an exact number.”
