Toulouse. This store should move into the former UGC cinema
The brand of cultural and electronic products Fnac should settle in the premises of the former UGC cinema in downtown Toulouse. A restaurant and a gym are also planned.
It’s the end of the suspense. From the end clap of the UGC cinema on the François-Mitterrand esplanade, in downtown Toulouse, several rumors have circulated about the future of the locals. They are ideally located, just outside the Jean Jaurès metro station, the main one in the Pink City.
The historic UGC cinema left the building listed as a Monument in 2019. Since then, the place has been bought by the real estate company Caso Patrimoine, managed by Caroline and Sophie Monné. The building hosted an escape game for a month at the end of 2020. But its final destination remained unclear.
What is planned in the former UGC cinema in Toulouse
Neither Ikea nor H&M. It is finally the sign of cultural and electronic products Fnac which should settle in the former premises of the UGC cinema in Toulouse, according to The Midi Dispatch, which quotes an architect of the project. The Fnac-Darty group is however already installed in the building of the Americans located just opposite. The store, which was previously located in the Saint-Georges shopping mall, will therefore have its third address in Toulouse. The Departmental Commission for Commercial Development issued, in 2021, an authorization for a non-food trade, without specifying the sign.
The restructuring was entrusted to a firm of architects from Toulouse. The venue will also host a restaurant-cabaret on its roof. It will take up the original plan of the Urban Vitry theater which became a cinema in 1931. But instead of putting it on the ground floor, it will therefore be on the roof. Offices and a gym are also planned in the project.
