Toulouse: the galley of the students of the Toulouse Lautrec high school who arrive late because of the bus
Hundreds of students from northern Toulouse, who take the 54 bus in the morning or the Lineo 10, regularly arrive late at the Toulouse Lautrec high school in Toulouse. The parents “cracked up” and tried to find a solution with the metropolitan public transport network Tisseo.
A puzzle. Since the start of the school year, hundreds of students from the Toulouse Lautrec high school in Toulouse arrive late for 8 hours, while they take the bus at 7 a.m. in their respective towns in northern Toulouse (Saint-Jory, Gagnac- sur-Garonne, Fenouillet, etc.).
“For some, it’s up to an hour late”, recognizes the chief of staff of the mayor of Fenouillet Mathieu Lucchini who confides that the town hall has received “about sixty complaints from parents of students” against the Tisseo buses.
The first to notice these repeated delays was the principal of the general and multi-purpose high school Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, who recently responded to the concerns of many parents of students supported by the FCPE delegates.
“Observed malfunctions”
“I inform you, he writes, that all the malfunctions observed in the morning and concerning school transport have been reported to Tisseo and have been for several weeks”. The head of the establishment enjoins the response of the public transport network of the Metropolis which notes that traffic on the RN20 is hell.
“With its daily share of accidents, which results in traffic jams and a slowdown in the progress of our buses,” says Tisseo. In addition, on the route between La Vache and the school we have two work areas […] Regarding the Audibert path, we could be able to take it from October 10 and for the Launaguet road, we could be able to return to normal from October 20. These dates are given by the companies involved and may change depending on the progress of the works.[…]”.
“Advance the morning schedule, but in November”
For the rest, the parents of pupils are beginning to find the time long which sees their offspring leaving in the morning with the fear of arriving late.
“Tisseo we propose to bring forward the morning schedule, but not before November, laments a student father Pascal Gibertas who lives in Gagnac-sur-Garonne. My daughter is in first at the Toulouse Lautrec high school and unfortunately the school bus (leaving 7:04 a.m.) from Gagnac only rarely arrives for the start of classes at 8 a.m. In fact, the situation is getting worse every day. On Tuesday, she took the Tisseo (non-school) bus earlier with a 6:54 a.m. departure, and only arrived at La Vache at 8:30 a.m., or 1:36 a.m. for a journey of less than 13 km”.
“We made a call to the population, concerning the problem of line 59 of Tisseo, in order to be able to exchange with the transport network, assures Mathieu Lucchini. In Fenouillet, high school students are forced to take the bus to Saint-Jory which is taken by storm, even the school bus 32 is no longer enough”.
