Sasa Obradovic (Monaco): “Happy with the victory, but especially with the way”
Adrien Moerman (strong winger of Monaco after the victory against Anadolu Efes Istanbul, 95-92 ap): “It’s good to have managed to beat the double holder of the Euroleague. It was an intense match, everyone missed shots, throws. The important thing was to stay strong and win at the end. Our defense in the last five minutes wins the game. This already shows us today, even if they lacked Shane Larkin, where we are compared to a great European.
We are in rhythm, we must continue like this. Concerning my match, obviously, I wanted to show beautiful things. Even though I missed a few shots at the end, I never quit or lost confidence. I feel good here, and I appreciate our coach and the confidence he places in me. Even at 34, I feel like I’m still learning things. »
“The competition has only just begun, however, and this success does not yet mean much. »
Sasa Obradovic (Monaco coach): “I am happy with this victory, but especially with the way. It was a spectacular match, of high physical and tactical level. We beat a title contender, forced through late mistakes and put the ball in the hands of our key players at the most important moments. The competition has only just begun, however, and this success does not yet mean much. Above all, it shows how difficult it will be, as the season progresses, to maintain this level. The important thing is not so much the victory as the standards of play that you want to put in place. It is too early to judge. »
“I don’t know if this performance makes Monaco a candidate for the title. We are only on the second day. At this point, anyone can beat anyone. »
Ergin Ataman (Efes Istanbul coach): “It was a spectacular game for the fans, and a tough game for us. I think we had a chance to kill the game at the end of regulation time. But we miss our last two possessions in attack, we lose too many balls (16), that was the key to victory for Monaco. In overtime, too many free throws are left on the way (17/24, but 3/8 in overtime). I don’t know if this performance makes Monaco a candidate for the title. We are only on the second day. At this point, anyone can beat anyone. But they have, for sure, integrated a good team, which fights at least for the play-offs. For the rest, it is too early to say anything. »
