R.Masiulytė presents the piece with Č.Gabal: he talked about returning to Lithuania | Names
How did you come up with the idea for a song that you could call an anthem for love these days?
The journey of this song began during the quarantine. When the whole world stopped, when there was a lot of time, I started writing both English and Lithuanian songs. The song “Touch my soul” was signed very easily and very quickly: both the music and the lines flowed freely. one free time without rushing to help the environment, that inspiration came by itself, and the antique piano of 1920-1920 production, which he bought in Ireland, also contributed to all this. It was while sitting next to him that I composed several songs, one of them being “Touch my soul”.
What do you want to say to the listeners with this song?
When I wrote this song, I just wanted people to enjoy listening to it. Very often I write works that only I like. I think this is how the creator disappoints his fans – he writes without thinking that it might not be relevant to them at all. And this time I wanted to pay tribute to my listeners – this song is for those people who are happily in love. My life is now in such a state – at the stop of happy love – that’s why I create such songs and want to share them with those around me.
In the song, your partner is Česlovas Gabalis. Why him?
When writing the song, I knew right away that it would be a duet. A beautiful love duet. My voice is soft, with a jazzy undertone, and I thought that a masculine, rich voice would go well with it. The idea immediately came to talk to Czeslov. We first contacted each other online and after talking we decided to work together. Česlovas is not only a great performer with the most voices in the Lithuanian music industry, but also a very nice person – it is very easy to work with him.
The song “Touch my soul” will decorate your upcoming album. What kind of bus is it? Who will you give it to? For the foreign or Lithuanian market?
I will dedicate the album to Lithuanian listeners. More and more I find myself spending more time in my homeland than in Ireland. I’m one of those people who find it difficult to settle down in one place: whether it’s Hawaii, or Lithuania, or England. And although I have a home in Ireland, I’m thinking more and more about getting a home for a longer period of time. And I’m happy that my husband also agrees to be my “big company”. Well, when the album itself will see the light of day – it all depends on how the song recordings go. I have created it, so I just need to “close” in the studio, take the time and, I think, the album will reach all the fans already after the New Year.
