Air Canada will reopen the Toulouse – Montreal direct line in June 2023
Suspended due to Covid, the opening of the direct airline between Toulouse and Montreal will be effective for the 2023 summer season. Air Canada confirms five flights per week.
It’s really time for recovery for Toulouse-Blagnac airport. While Ryanair announced this week adding a second Boeing 737 to its Toulouse base with the opening of seven new routes, it was Air Canada that made a major announcement on Thursday. The Canadian company has confirmed that the direct airline project between Toulouse and Montreal will be activated for the summer 2023 season.
Five flights per week
Specifically from 1uh June 2023, an Airbus A330-300 configured in three classes (297 seats) will connect Toulouse to Montreal with five flights per week. This project had been announced just before the Covid with an initial opening expected in June 2020 but the health crisis which strongly affected global air traffic had put the air link on hold. The fear of seeing this project did not come to fruition as travel habits have been affected since the pandemic. “Air Canada, the oldest of the North American companies operating in France, is proud to connect Occitania to Quebec, Canada and beyond to America” said the company through the voice of Jean-François Raudin, son delegate general France.
Flights available all year round, even in winter
This flight will be carried out all year round even during the winter period which begins at the end of October for airports and airlines. In 2020, when it was first announced, the launch price was to start at 729 Canadian dollars, or 548 euros round trip all inclusive. For the moment the 2023 price list has not yet been made public. “The airport teams have worked intensely to reactivate this great direct line project which will open Toulouse – Blagnac airport even further to the North American continent”, said Philippe Crebassa, the president of the airport.
In addition to passengers, the Airbus A330 will be capable of transporting 70 tons of freight per week, which could be useful to the fabric of aeronautical companies that have links with Quebec in particular. Airbus assembles the A220 regional aircraft in Mirabel near Montreal, which has met with real commercial success. Several Toulouse aeronautical players, including the Sogeclair group, also have operations in Canada. This direct line avoids connecting to Canada via the Paris Charles de Gaulle hub.
