It was in the pipes. It is now confirmed. On Wednesday October 12, 2022, Etienne Guyot, the prefect of Haute-Garonne, announced the “setting up priority services” at service stations.
The emergency vehicles concerned
After relating to the ban on the sale of gasoline in cans or jerry cans throughout the department, the prefecture is therefore preparing to unveil a new decree. The goal? Allow, as a priority, the refueling of certain professionals.
While waiting to have more details on the list of priority professions and the operation of these priority services, the prefect indicates that “emergency vehicles” (doctors, nurses, gendarmes, etc.) will be concerned. “The imperative is to ensure that they can operate without difficulty,” explains the State representative.
If these first two announcements are not enough, the prefect does not rule out the implementation of new measures: “If we have to go further, we will take our responsibilities”.
No problem for Toulouse firefighters
When we talk about rescue, we necessarily think of firefighters. In Toulouse, the latter are not affected by this fuel problem. And for good reason, the firefighters of the Pink City have their own gas pumps “in a dozen centers, which allows them to be refueled without problem”, says Lieutenant-Colonel Christophe Ghiani, potential group leader operational at SDIS 31.
However, in rural areas, firefighters are also faced with these queues. “We have a contract with Total, where we are going to serve ourselves, in the same way as individuals…”, indicates Christophe Ghiani.
