simulated accident on the L2 overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, traffic closed in both directions
The L2 ring road will be closed tonight in Marseille due to civil security exercises in the Montolivet tunnel. A road safety accident causing a large number of victims will be simulated.
“ORSEC Many victims”, this is the name of this civil security exercise organized this Wednesday, October 12 from 11 p.m. on the L2 in Marseille. Traffic will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The simulated accident will take place in the Montolivet tunnel in the A50/A7 direction, in the 12th arrondissement of Marseille.
The exercise is played in “conditions as real as possible” indicates the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône. This is to simulate a road accident causing a large number of injuries. “Human and material resources will be deployed on site (firefighters, emergency service, etc.)”. The victims will be played by extras.
The “ORSEC Many victims” plan, NoVi, will be issued by the prefect. This is an emergency plan to rescue a large number of victims in the same place.
It is part of the emergency plans drawn up within the framework of the ORSEC system (organization of civil security responses), with a view to “the protection of populations, property and the environment.”
“No reaction is expected from the population” underlines the prefecture which encourages not to clutter the telephone lines of the police, the emergency services and the authorities. It also indicates not to relay false information on social networks.
This exercise is organized by the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture, in conjunction with the Interdepartmental Directorate for Mediterranean Roads (DIRMED) and the Société de la Rocade L2.
