North of Toulouse, the body of a man who died last winter discovered in his house
A decomposed body was found by the gendarmerie at the end of last week in the center of the town of Villemur-sur-Tarn in Haute-Garonne. The victim would have remained lifeless for several months before the discovery of the body. An investigation has been opened.
The Villemur-sur-Tarn gendarmerie discovered on October 6, in a house in a cul-de-sac in the historic center of the town, the decomposed body of an old man. Following a report, the gendarmes, the municipal police, accompanied by the firefighters of the town and an elected official, had broken a closed shutter and a window to make the discovery which would put an end to the various conjectures.
Died last winter?
According to the first findings, the death would be between the beginning of February 2022 and October of the same year.
An investigation was opened and the body was named to the medical examiners. An autopsy will be performed to determine the circumstances of his death, even if the hypothesis of a natural death may seem likely given the first clues.
This type of discovery, after such an important turn of time, is not frequent in a small town like Villemur and most often it concerns large cities, where contact between neighbors is most often non-existent. However, in the present case, this gentleman certainly 84 years old and not very present in the life of the city, was one of the elders that the inhabitants knew, and saw going out from time to time in the streets.
Matters of fact
His state of health had suddenly deteriorated last Christmas, after a fall. At the time, the firefighters and a doctor from the Samu had performed the treatment on the spot, because it really did not require any other urgent examination. After the departure of the speakers, the neighbors had imagined that the old man had gone to treatment at the hospital or had been placed in a retirement home. Since February, no one had heard from this octogenarian.
According to the neighborhood, this man had become a lone wolf and easily remained a few days in his home without leaving it. This may explain why no one reported his absence.
In this type of case, curiosity is not a bad fault, but can prevent making such sad discoveries in the future.
