Mol Fehérvár has to move due to the increase in overhead costs
The MOL Aréna Sóstó would only be operated at a minimal level for a month and a half.
According to feol.hu, the Székesfehérvár city council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Thursday to discuss measures to deal with the crisis caused by the energy price explosion. It is clear from the city’s several submissions that the proposals will be accepted, the public institution will also temporarily close on October 31, and it is expected that the operation of the football stadium in Sóstó, i.e. the MOL Aréna Sóstó, will also be reduced to the minimum conservation level, i.e. the grass of the center court will not be heated or lit.
“From November 14, 2020 until December 31, 2022, MOL Aréna will ensure the operation of the Salt Plant only at the level necessary to prevent major technical damage” – says the proposal, adding that the grass of the center court will not be heated or lit. This would mean that the team from Székesfehérvár would not be able to play at home during this period, and the mayor of the city, András Cser-Palkovics, stated that even the January matches might become impossible.
“In order to solve the situation, all areas must contribute, and their own sacrifices must be made. It will not work if existence is at stake almost literally, to have a sports association that can play championship games with teams even in January on a gas-heated field with electric lighting. The decisions therefore, the stadium and, if necessary, the sports halls are also affected” – said András Cser-Palkovics.
According to Nemzeti Sport, if Mol Fehérvár has to move to a sublease even in February, in this case it can play its home matches in the Pancho Arena in Felcsút.
