Journalism, Maestro Lumsa starts in Rome
Web, television, radio, print media, video inquiries, podcasts. A full immersion in a real multimedia editorial office to access the state exams as a professional journalist after two years. The Master in Journalism of Lumsa in Rome reaches its seventh edition, one of the eleven in Italy affiliated with the National Order of Journalists, directed by Carlo Chianura and Fabio Zavattaro, reads in a note. By the end of November there will be the beginning of the two-year period.
On the didactic side, the training offer includes over 40 technical-professional courses for a total of 660 hours, combined with 1,400 hours of apprenticeship, to which will be added seminar activities with important players in information. For each year of the course, two-three-month internships are planned in the most important Italian newspapers.
The activity has as its fulcrum the site www.lumsanews.it, a true multimedia platform of the Master’s work, in which, in the last year, more than 2,000 articles and surveys, 140 videos, 40 editions of radio-newspapers have found space. and news. The contents were viewed by around 60,000 unique users, with 140,000 page reviews. Multimedia work is supported by an innovative 40 terabyte archive system: Mam (Media Asset Management). This system allows you to preserve all the production and speed up the work of the students as in a real editorial office. In recent years this activity has obtained recognition outside the Master, with the awarding of eighteen important journalistic prizes.
In a survey submitted this year to alumni who have attended the Masters in the last 10 years, it emerged that 77.8% of respondents found a job as a journalist within one year of graduation, while 72.2% believe that the Master was very important for one’s professional training. Furthermore, 50% have a professional relationship with the newspaper where they carried out one of the training internships during the two years of the course.
