Art exhibition in the Kollegienkirche: Giving color to the saints
What do saints have to do with our times? Rudolf Brüdl from Straßwalchen and Jutta Blühberger from Strobl have dealt with this question. For the art exhibition in the Kollegienkirche, she took a close look at 12 saints and addressed them artistically in order to bring them to eye level and “give them color”.
The exhibition will open in three weeks and we look forward to seeing you:
Vernissage: Sunday October 30, 2022 at 2 p.m.
exhibition duration: October 30 to November 20, 2022.
An art exhibition entitled “Give color to the saints” will soon be held in the Kollegienkirche in Salzburg. The exhibition was opened by Rudolf Brüdl from Straßwalchen. Together with Jutta Blühberger from Strobl, the two artists have dealt with the lives of 12 saints.
Both artists have each selected six saints to “colour” in a work of art. Each artwork is 100 x 140 cm. Rudolf Brüdl painted his pictures in acrylic. Jutta Blühberger created her pictures with a marble powder structure, tempera, oil and wax.
Jutta Blühberger has also written a style of scroll poems for each of the twelve sacred texts, in which the saints introduce themselves and consider which of their concerns might be relevant in the 21st century.
The two artists have chosen the following saints:
Rudolf Brüdl chose three contemporaries of Jesus and three theologians:
• Joseph of Nazareth
• Luke the Evangelist
• John the Baptist
• Wolfgang of Regensburg
• Anthony of Padua
• Gertrude of Helfta
Jutta Blühberger chose three mystics and three saints who stood up for the disadvantaged:
• Bernard of Clairvaux
• Francis of Assisi
• Teresa of Avila
• Martin of Tours
• Leonard of Limoges
• Ivo Hélory from Kermatin
The exhibition will open with a vernissage on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 2 p.m. The artists will be present and the following people will contribute:
Greeting: Mag. Christian Wallisch-Breitching, director of the Collegiate Church
eulogy: Eva Flatscher, internationally active artist
opening: Rev. Thomas Bergner
musical contributions: dr Monica Argentino, saxophone, and Kira Tymofeieva, organ
Instead of an exhibition catalogue, an art calendar for 2023 was published with the artists’ pictures and texts.
The exhibition runs from October 30 to November 20, 2022, daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The artists will be present around lunchtime on the weekends and will be available to answer any questions.
