Netherlands National Elderly Day in Nederweert
Every year on the first Friday of October, National Elderly Day is celebrated in the Netherlands. In Nederweert – just like in many other places in the Netherlands – this is called the Day of the Elderly. And every year a different church village of the municipality of Nederweert organizes this day.
Netherlands National Elderly Day
This year it was Nederweert village’s turn. The venue was the community center De Pinnenhof and the organization was in the hands of the KBO St. Lambertus. They had provided a varied program with some current and important themes for seniors and of course the music was also included!
Welcome
Alderman Carla Dieterene welcomed the more than 120 attendees; and Pastor Sebastian of St. Lambertus Parish also spoke a word of welcome.
Then it was Annet Kuijs’s turn for advice, and Testament’s turn came. Many people already have a will, but a living will is just as important to keep your money and secure.
After the break, of course with coffee and pie, and a performance by the group Tössedoôr, it was time for Rabobank. Harm Scheijven and Evelien Nuijens of Rabobank Midden-Limburg gave those present all kinds of useful tips on how to keep safe and how to be alert. Do you want to come up with creative ways to come up with bank details. Debit card fraud and other scams are extensively discussed. The audience listened intently and had many questions. But the fact that there is no longer a bank in Nederweert, a lot of people present, is also a major problem, which is due to the age of the group.
A second performance by “tossedoor” and a pleasant afternoon was already over and everyone went home again. The next year, the Day of the Elderly will be organized by Ospel, of course again on the first Friday of October.
