Toulouse brings down Clermont thanks to a great Ramos
Toulouse is not determined to leave much on the way. While a revamped team dominated last weekend in Montpellier, Ugo Mola aligned his forces this Saturday against Clermont and it turned out to be spectacular. A poster for the 6th day of the Top 14 which started at a slow pace with the scorers who put themselves in the spotlight. Facing the posts, Jules Plisson did not tremble to open the score. But, while Rodrigue Neti gave way after four minutes to Maxime Duprat due to injury, Thomas Ramos missed his festival with a defeat to put the two teams level. A status quo that lasted eight minutes. This is the time it took Antoine Dupont to flatten the first try of the game. On an action initiated by a pass at the foot of Thomas Ramos for Mathis Lebel, the ball returned to the best player in the world last year who, after playing Tomas Lavanini, was able to go to queen. The Jaunards’ response came in the 20th minute on a test that will make a lot of ink flow. Indeed, after taking the ball into touch, Adrien Pélissié was able to get out of the maul to flatten.
Toulouse ignored the controversy
However, the footage showed what looks like the ASM hooker lost control of the ball and, therefore, a forward. In disagreement, the referees finally gave the benefit of the doubt to the Clermontois who, in their eyes, did not completely lose the ball when flattening. Under the whistles of the Stade Ernest-Wallon public, Jules Plisson equalized… without knowing that he had just scored his team’s last points in this meeting. Indeed, Toulouse resumed its march forward shortly before the half-hour mark. Taking advantage of a favorable counter on a kicking game to follow, Thomas Ramos was able to recover the ball and go to register his first try, then ensuring him -even the transformation. In verve, the Stade Toulousain striker then played three new points on sensitivity, allowing the Rouge-et-Noir to take a ten-point lead at the break. As soon as he returned to the pitch, Ugo Mola brought in his fresh blood, notably with Thibaud Flament, Melvyn Jaminet and Pierre-Louis Barassi. The first line also moved ten minutes after the restart, just before Thomas Ramos went there with his double.
Ramos managed almost everything
Following an interception by Sofiane Guitoune, the one who was at the post of opener for this meeting was served on a plate to give more body to the Toulouse domination. It was then Jono Gibbes who opened his bench to hope to limit the damage but without the slightest success. Indeed, at the start of the last quarter of an hour, a pass from Kevin Viallard was intercepted by an opportunist Alexandre Roumat. The latter then accelerated to go alone to the test, which put Stade Toulousain on the way to the offensive bonus. The end of the match turned into a nightmare for the Jaunards. First of all, following a game at the foot of Thomas Ramos, Ange Capuozzo was able to recover the ball and go flatten the fifth try of the Rouge-et-Noir in two stages. The transformation missed by Thomas Ramos remains his only false note in this meeting Finally, on the very last action, Melvyn Jaminet found a space in the Clermont defensive curtain out of the scrum to go and score his very first try in his new colors. A sixth and final achievement that allows Toulouse to win by a wide margin (46-10), which gives the Haute-Garonne club a margin of six points over Toulon and La Rochelle in the Top 14 classification. Clermont, for its part , concedes a third defeat in six days and misses an opportunity to settle on the podium.
