RTL Today – Shops in Luxembourg: OUNI, the 100% bulk brand, it’s over
The two shops without OUNI packaging have closed in Luxembourg-city and Dudelange. The cooperative was declared bankrupt.
Plagued by very large debts (more than 350,000 euros), the OUNI cooperative went bankrupt six years after opening its first store in Luxembourg City. A second store had opened in Dudelange in 2020, but the covid crisis completely weighed down the accounts of the 100% bulk brand.
Officials announced the bad news on Facebook and their website, among others.
“The last few months have been very difficult for OUNI, for the bulk sector in general and for many other small traders. It is with a heavy heart that we have taken the decision to close our two stores” can we read.
The shops offered fruits, vegetables, cereals, milk and hygiene products without packaging, products mostly from local and organic production or fair trade.
Each holder of a share of 100 euros could become a normal or active member of the cooperative, with the mission of helping in order management, cleaning or stock management.
“We would like to thank you for your support throughout this adventure. Thank you for all the words of support and comfort you have expressed” added the leaders of the cooperative.
