RNF federates a multiplicity of actors: nearly 700 members including 170 natural reserve management organizations, volunteers, experts, nature protection and management organizations in France and classification authorities (Regions and Communities) .
It coordinates this network by offering its members technical support, expertise, pooling of tools and resources, meeting and discussion times.
It also contributes to public policies and participates in the implementation of the national strategy for protected areas.
RNF is supported by the State, the Regions, various partners and the voluntary membership of managers (legal and natural persons).
It has 36 employees, most of them being experts in the areas of biodiversity and geodiversity.
