Episcopal appointments held in Portugal. Bishops by dropper
Amidst the turmoil of sexual abuse, they finally broke loose, like episcopal nomenclatures in Portugal, inexplicably held back by the Apostolic Nunciature in Lisbon.
As the dioceses of Bragança and Braga continue, thus, at the epicenter of the nomenclatures coming from Rome. First, it was D. José Cordeiro for archbishop of Braga, now, it is D. Delfim Esteves Gomes, 60 years old, from the diocese of Bragança, to assist the archbishop of Braga.
This new Portuguese prelate was born in the capital of Trás-os-Montes and was born when the historic Second Vatican Council met in Rome in 1962. He developed his pastoral activity for 33 years at the Diocesan Seminary, at the episcopal vicarage of the clergy, , school and social, in the parish and municipality of Vila-Flor and in the archpriestship of Moncorvo.
The appointment of this new bishop raises, however, the vacancy of three other dioceses: Angra, in the Azores, Setúbal and Bragança. For this northern diocese, everything indicates that the current auxiliary bishop of Braga, D. Nuno Almeida, will go there soon.
