The Miteco launches the Dinamiz-ARTj cultural program in mining areas
The Institute for the Just Transition (ITJ), an autonomous body of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco), through the City of Energy Foundation (CIUDEN), has launched the first actions of the Dinamiz- ARTj, focused on generating a wide cultural offer in the municipalities located in Just Transition areas.
The first 22 actions will take place from October 13 to mid-November in 13 municipalities linked to the energy transition.
The group b-Vocal will perform at the Casa de la Cultura in Andorra on October 23 with the show Goya’s voices.
In this inaugural stage, the program combines the participation of new and established artists and the performances will take place in municipal spaces and facilities where attendance will be free.
This is how this initiative of the Just Transition Institute (ITJ) materializes, which last July launched a call in which it invited young artists -residents or linked to fair transition municipalities- to offer their performances and activities within the Dinamiz program -ARTj.
In parallel, the town councils can offer their facilities and spaces available to host these activities and request the performances offered to form a complete cultural program.
The Dinamiz-ARTj program is one of the lines of work of the Cultural Network of the Just Transition Institute, focused on generating cultural offerings in the municipalities affected by the closure of coal mines and coal and nuclear power plants to promote social and cultural life of these areas, helping to improve their tourist offer.
As ‘ambassadors’ of Dinamiz-ARTj, in addition to renowned artists such as Café Quijano, Tomatito or Pedro Halffter, young artists enrolled in the program will take part in this first poster.
The cycle will begin on Thursday, October 13 and will end in mid-November after touring Ponferrada and La Robla in the province of León; Velilla del Río Carrión in Palencia, Valle de Tobalina, in Burgos; and Cerceda and As Pontes, in A Coruña.
There will also be activities in Andorra, in the province of Teruel; in Langreo and Tineo, in the Principality of Asturias; Espiel in Cordoba; in Almonacid de Zorita, in Guadalajara; in Carboneras, in Almería, and in Alcudia, in Mallorca.
Last July, the first call for Dinamiz-ARTj was launched, a program that has a pilot nature and the recipients of Dinamiz-ARTj are individual artists or artistic groups from all disciplines (music, theater, dance, photography, painting, sculpture or performance), as well as the 197 Just Transition municipalities.
The call is open until November 15 and the bases can be consulted on the web www.dinamizartj.com. On this website, artists and city councils can find, in addition to all the documentation necessary to make their request, a guide to frequently asked questions and a mailbox where they can address their queries ([email protected]).
The registered artistic manifestations can be enjoyed free of charge from May 1 to December 31, 2023 in municipal spaces.
In addition to boosting cultural activity, the objectives of Dinamiz-ARTj are to favor visits to municipalities through the generation of artistic activity, so that the tourist offer of areas, in many cases of high landscape and environmental value, is complemented.
It also aims to promote social exchange through free access to culture and collaborate with the development of a full life in these areas, affected by depopulation trends, considering that culture is a reason for the local population to root in the territory.
For their part, young performers can find in Dinamiz-ARTj a platform to promote their artistic careers by providing them with professional opportunities.
