The ASI Trasporti Show in Rimini and San Marino Esterni
The history of utility vehicles is back on the streets with the eleventh edition of the spectacular “ASI Transport Show”, a unique event in Italy with the participation of trucks, buses, commercial and recreational vehicles of all kinds on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October they met at the National Motorcycle Museum in Rimini to then reach the Republic of San Marino. “ASI Transport Show”, which returned after the last edition organized in 2019, showed the general public the vehicles that have marked important milestones in the evolution of the transport of goods and people. They are the vehicles that, at least as much as the car, were the protagonists of industrial, economic and social development in the twentieth century. Since the early 1900s, in fact, trucks and “omnibuses” (forerunners of modern coaches) have had a circulation on the national arteries first with steam propulsion, then with primordial but effective electrical systems, then with endothermic engines until the definitive affirmation of the more efficient and economical Diesel. The Italian industry has always distinguished itself in this strategic sector, reaching and surpassing new goals produced after the decade. With the “Transport Show”, the Autoclub Storico Italiano has overturned a world made up of vehicles rigorously preserved or restored with the same criteria used for the most prestigious cars, so as to represent a “unicum” at an international level. 57 specimens arrived in Rimini and in a caravan they “conquered” Mount Titano and then formed a colorful exhibition on the square of the railway station of the Republic of San Marino thanks to the collaboration of the local Automobile Club. ancient railway that once connected the small state with Rimini, the Temeroli Collection of military vehicles and the Aviation Museum Theme Park. The “ASI Transport Show” was a colorful and multiform column, with the oldest examples dating back to the 1930s, such as the 1936 Fiat 618 and 1939 Lancia 3Ro representing the characteristic “curmudgeons” with cabin set back. For the 1940s, on the other hand, there is an iconic advanced cabin model, the 1947 Alfa Romeo 430; going up to the 1950s, the beginning of the economic boom, we can remember the 1954 OM Super Taurus of medium capacity and with a generous 5.8-liter engine. The 60s and 70s were certainly the most represented with a wide range of models and sizes for the most diverse uses, from small trucks to touring “couriers”, from articulated lorries to campers. Among the most recent vehicles that have already conquered a place in history, the Iveco Turbostar, the “king” of motorways in the 90s, could not be missing. The first edition of “ASI Transport Show” dates back to 2006 for the celebrations, in Turin, of the 40th anniversary of the Italian Historical Automotoclub. The event returned in 2011, again in Turin, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and was repeated without interruptions until 2019 with stops in Varese, Lanciano, Verona, Jesi, Turin (2016, 50th anniversary of the ASI), Arezzo, Vittorio Veneto and Piacenza.
