San Marino among the 110 countries at the AIPS congress in Rome from 3 to 6 October
The San Marino Sports Press Association also participates in the 84th International Congress of the Sports Press in Rome.

Over 250 journalists representing 110 countries are expected. An important appointment for the San Marino Sports Press Association, which returns after more than two years, given the re-sending of the 2021 edition due to Covid. The 84th AIPS Congress will be opened by a special session entitled ‘AIPS meets Aleksander Čeferin’, the UEFA president will be interviewed by Gianni Merlo, AIPS president.
Among the topics at the center of the Congress, themes such as: ‘The future of sports journalism in the era of robots’ and that on gender disparity in the coverage of sporting events. Particular attention will be paid to upcoming international events such as the World Cup in Qatar, the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Special Olympics World Games. In addition, elections are scheduled to read the AIPS and AIPS Europe Executive Committee. Gianni Merlo, single candidate, is preparing to be re-elected for the fifth consecutive term at the top of the IPS, an association founded in 1924 during the Olympic Games in Paris and which today has 160 affiliated countries and 9,300 registered journalists. The Congress of the IPS represents a particular moment of meeting also for the journalists of the Small States, for the development of the project linked to the Games of the Small States of Europe which
provides assistance and support to sports journalists on the occasion of the small Olympics.
It will be an opportunity for colleagues from Malta to illustrate the next edition to be held in
2023.
