Sturm Graz are two points behind Salzburg after beating Austria 3-0
Rapid had already won 5-0 at WSG Tirol on Saturday and WAC had the upper hand 3-1 at Austria Lustenau. Conclusion: The 10th Bundesliga round was not for home teams!
Albian Ajeti (14th) and William Böving (58th) with their first league goals and substitute Mohammed Fuseini (92nd) scored in an entertaining game in Wien-Favoriten. In Vienna’s constant rain, the guests, who continued to play without Jakob Jantscher, immediately knew how to please in front of 14,300 spectators (sold out). Sturm caused problems for the Viennese defense with quick combinations in the first few minutes. Austria, which was too inefficient overall, is now seventh after this defeat, and the violets are two points away from city rivals Rapid – and the ominous line in terms of playoffs.
Ried is the new bottom of the table in the league. In the basement duel, the Innviertler fought a veritable exchange of blows with Altach. In a bold game played by both teams, the Vorarlberg team prevailed 3:2 after leading 1:0 and being behind 1:2. Adthe Nuhiu’s early lead was converted by Leo Mikic and Philipp Pomer in a Rieder half-time lead. Substitute Johannes Tartarotti provided the Altach victory with an assist for Alexis Tibidi and a goal of his own.
In Hartberg, the result was the same at the same time: Austria Klagenfurt left the Profertil Arena as a 3:2 winner. Peter Pacult’s squad prevailed in East Styria thanks to a last-minute hand penalty from Andy Irving (93′). Florian Rieder (3rd) and Nicolas Wimmer (45th + 5) had previously put the Carinthian in the lead twice. Dario Tadic (16th penalty kick) and Rene Kriwak (56th) both managed to equalize for the team coached by Klaus Schmidt. The latter was represented by his assistant Alexander Marchat due to illness. Hartberg is now two points ahead of Ried penultimate, Pacults Klagenfurt are fifth ahead of Rapid.
