Avignon: three centenarians at the Saint-Roch retirement home
103 years for Delica Caioli, 100 for Aurore Dolay and Yvonne Rouen! The three centenarians blew out their candles alongside Nathalie Dutreige, director of the Saint-Roch nursing home.
Delica Caioli was born in Bientina (Italy), on September 7, 1919, where she lived until her marriage to Igino in 1942. She then moved to France and resided at Barthelasse and Île Piot. Mother of three children, she worked as a seamstress, grape picker and cleaning lady. She has 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Aurore Dolay was also born in Italy on September 17, 1922. She arrived in France just after her birth and lived in Denain. She had an only daughter. Her husband is long since deceased. Aurore Dolay has several jobs including that of photographer. She was also a saleswoman in a wool store where she made sweaters or jackets. It was in 2000 that she moved to Cavaillon, where she lived in her own apartment until she was 99, before entering the retirement home in March 2021. Aurore Dolay has something to hold on to since her mother died at 104!
Yvonne Rouen was born on September 13, 1922 in Nîmes, to a Norman father and a Cévennes mother. Single, she worked all her life for a pharmacy wholesaler. Passionate about opera, she was a member of the Friends of the Lyric Theater of Avignon. She has six nephews, ten grand-nephews and seven great-grand-nephews.
