THE BALL – Draxler and the move to Lisbon: «I had to do something, but it is not that simple» (Benfica)
Julian Draxler sent a message and social networks to address the departure of PSG to Benfica. The German midfielder, remember, arrived in the last days of the market in Luz, on the warning of the Parisians.
In a personal text, Draxler admitted that it was not easy to leave Paris due to his wife’s pregnancy.
“Four weeks ago a new chapter began for me. I changed jobs. I think many of you know this feeling: Being in one place for a long time, doing at work, creating the daily friends routines. Deep down, being in a comfort zone that my personal life also ended up in because I met my girlfriend in Paris, she who gave me a wonderful son. However, somehow things weren’t going well at work, dissatisfaction grew and I felt I had to do something, but it’s not that simple. My girlfriend was pregnant and had organized her whole life around that job. It is never an easy thing to take, due to various private and professional factors that are determined, and that dozens of considerations»
But once the decision was made, the international German praised the way she was received in Lisbon and did not hide the charm.
«In my case, this so-called comfort zone ended up being abandoned. While things were extremely good in Paris, changing jobs was a difficult but sensible decision. It means meeting a new club, new colleagues, a new language, a new country, a new culture, a completely new environment for me and my family. But the good thing about this is that everyone at the club received me fantastically and gave me very good feelings. So I’m already very grateful to the people, who made things easier here and that’s incredibly important. I’m excited for everything to come in Lisbon”, he concluded.
