Football, Fifa President Gianni Infantino visits San Marino
Just under five years after the previous official visit to the San Marino Football Federation, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has returned to the Republic.
Yesterday evening the meeting with companies, affiliated associations and Giorgio Crescentini, honorary member of the FSGC, represented by the entire Federal Council. Before sharing a convivial moment in the hospitality room of the San Marino Stadium, President Infantino spoke in front of the participants: “An honor and a pleasure to be able to return to San Marino, a place that evokes pleasant memories – even before the official visits as FIFA President. I want to congratulate each one of you for the precious and indispensable work – underlines Infantino, addressing the audience – he has done, is doing and will do for the development of San Marino football. Of the 211 affiliated Federations, only one is world champion. Nonetheless, all – no one excluded – can and must think that guaranteeing access to football for children is their own World Cup“.
“A great honor to be able to host President Infantino in San Marino“- he comments Marco Tura, President of the FSGC -. “His presence here, despite a very busy schedule and less than two months from the start of the World Cup in Qatar, gives us the measure of the excellent relations between the San Marino Football Federation and FIFAas well as the relationships of esteem and friendship that bind us to its President“.
Concepts reaffirmed also on the occasion of theAudience with the Captains Regent HE Oscar Mina and HE Paolo Rondelli, which took place this morning in Palazzo Pubblico. Infantino was introduced to the Supreme Magistracy from Sports Secretary Teodoro Lonferniniwho underlined the importance of the presence of the illustrious guest in the area in these hours.
“Sport and football in particular is an incredible vehicle of values: work hard to get results, get up after a defeat or learn to behave according to precise rules – recalls Infantino in the hall of the Great and General Council – these are just some of the lessons of football, which, especially in the youngest, take root by contributing to the education of the citizens of tomorrow. The presence of the FIFA President in San Marino means that today the Republic of San Marino is the world capital of football: for me it is always a pleasure to be here and I hope to return very soon.“. In closing, Infantino shares with those present a concept that is anything but trivial: “In the world football system, San Marino and Brazil are on the same level of identity. In fact, they have the dignity and ability to convey the values of union and team play that valuable football to develop itself. In particular, in the light of what we can see in today’s world, they are elements of extraordinary importance“.
