The San Marino Declaration took shape and Norman Foster in person he will present it in front of the whole world of the project. But let’s start from the beginning: what is the San Marino declaration? The United Nations they drafted a design a list of “principles for a sustainable and inclusive urban and architecture”. And starting next month, all designers and creatives will share its validity by promising to abide by the environmental and housing standards that carta sings of. The Declaration in practice, according to the founder of Foster + Partners who is preparing to sign the document which will be followed by an official presentation in the Republic of San Marino from 3 to 7 October, is like the Hippocratic oath in the medical field: it is a loyalty sheet for architects. Appointment, therefore, at the 83rd Session of the UNECE Committee.
The draft is headed by the Bureau of the Commission for Urban Development, Housing and Land Management. According to what has been written, the pillar-themes of contemporary customs to be respected always and in any case: the environment (first of all), generation housing schemes, infrastructures and sustainable cities. Considering the art of design as a living material, always in evolution, it is important that architecture always lends itself to creating safe, inclusive and “climate neutral and circular” spaces. In practice, erecting buildings becomes guaranteeing a commitment that makes everyone aware of respecting environmental circumstances: “in order to limit the use of energy, use only sustainable sources, reuse rainwater and limit the use of other natural resources”, we read on the Declaration. In particular, the document also urges to respect the identity, buildings and cultural heritage of the place.
Not just architects. “I consciously encouraged the United Nations, which encouraged the idea, not to invite only architects and engineers to sign this declaration,” said Norman Foster. Thus, all the people involved in the sector will be held to a professional philosophy, in line with what has been written. In principle all the loyalty of the English Lord towards a charter of relevance in the world, the studio will present projects (the materplan for some the city of Duisburg, in Germany, and Trafalgar Square in London) absolutely similar in words and transmitted by the neo -document. In addition, it will show the adaptive reuse works of the Berlin Reichstag and the new Bloomberg headquarters, winner of the Stirling Prize. All in San Marino.
