Toulouse: change in sight for the kiosks of the Roosevelt alleys
The town hall wants to entrust the management of the six kiosks of the Roosevelt alleys to a single manager.
New change in sight for the historic kiosks of the Roosevelt alleys, opposite Fnac. During the previous mandate, two of these eight buildings built in 1930 and 1931 had been removed by the town hall and moved to other sites. But today, in the eyes of the municipality, the problem is still the same. The economic model of these small businesses will not allow them to open all day. The closed kiosks therefore serve most of the time as points of attachment for the deliverers of takeaway meals. But they have also become a place of dealing despite regular police interventions, even snatching.
“The Jean-Jaurès metro station is the entry point to the city. It is the largest flow of pedestrians that passes through there. We cannot afford that this site is not valued, ”says Olivier Arsac, deputy mayor in charge of trade, who wants to improve the commerciality of the route to Place du Capitole.
A single activity
In the spring, Olivier Arsac and Christophe Alvès, elected in charge of the terraces, launched a procedure to entrust the management of the six kiosks, which would benefit from a large terrace, to a single operator. A solution, according to them, to ensure the economic viability of the activity that will settle there. Been disabled, occupying the land, to fend off the dealers. Candidates had until June 30 to declare themselves. The town hall has yet to decide who will be the winner and therefore the activity deployed there
