meeting with Zinée, rising star of rap
ORGANIC EXPRESS:
Zine, real name Lisa, was born in Toulouse in 1997. During her studies, it was towards the cinema that she first threw her evolution. But music, and especially rap, quickly caught up with her. Indeed, the young rapper bathed in this universe from a very young age, under the impulse of his parents, and in particular of his father. Influenced by various artists, from rap to French variety, she began to write her own texts. Models that she saves on her phone and that she submits to the one who will become her future manager. This will be followed by a musical meeting with rapper Sheldon, from the 75th Session collective, through which will result a few singles and a first EP, “Futée”, in 2019. It will be necessary to wait until 2021 for the Toulouse nugget to release its first “Cobalt” album in 2021. Inside, Zinée lays bare, sharing her struggles, her victories, but also her failures.
Entering the “rap game” three years ago, the rapper from Toulouse knew how to stand out with a recognizable vocal signature and an authentic panache. Her voice, both innocent and mature, reflects her elusive and mysterious character. Based in Paris for the needs of her emerging career, Zinée evolves between drill and trap in a contrasting universe between calm and storm, gentleness and aggressiveness. A fruitful cocktail, since theToulouse artist has more than 19,000 subscribers on Instagram and has more than 107,500 listeners per month on the Spotify music platform. A consecration for this young Toulouse rapperwho lives the heights
What are your projects now?
At the moment, I spend my time between the studio and the stage. I’m planning my next project. I will be in concert at Connexion Live, in Toulouse, on December 3, 2022.
What is your favorite place in Toulouse?
I now live in Paris, but when I live in Toulouse, I lived in the Carmes district. I really like this area, it’s beautiful, there are plenty of bars, the quays of the Garonne are right next door. Otherwise I really like Pech David’s point of view. It’s kind of my two favorite spots in Toulouse.
Your favorite restaurant in the pink city?
Santosha, to the Carmelites. It’s Thai food, I love it! There are also pizzas from Lopez, at the Carmes market.
Which movie do you never get tired of?
The big Blue. There is everything in this film: the music, the story, I like everything in it.
Your favorite fictional character?
Coraline is a great cartoon. What I like about this character is that she fights alone against everyone. And then, she looks like me physically: brunette, very white..
What superpower do you wish you had?
I would like to be able to go back in time to be able to relive the time of my 12-13 years. They were good years, it’s the time when you come out of childhood and start to discover the world around you.
What era do you wish you had lived in?
Good question, I often think about it too! I would say Antiquity, compared to the Renaissance and the Middle Ages, this period seems more fun. I like the 60s too, but even if it means traveling back in time, you might as well go further.
Your favorite singer?
It’s Rosalia. I am not inspired by it but I find it too strong, it deserves the success it meets. I think it will mark decades. On the inspiration side, artists like Disiz and Orelsan but also French variety artists like Mylène Farmer really got me going.
The drink that makes you better?
The tropical multivitamin Capri Sun! Ever since I was little, I’ve been a big fan. I even have a bathrobe with the inscription “princess Capri Sun” hand-embroidered on it!
Your favourite meal ?
The duck breast, a product from the southwest!
The scene that impressed you the most?
It’s hard to choose, but I can make a top 3. I’ll say the Rose Festival, Dour and Les Francofolies
The trip you dream of?
Cuba, Havana. I’ve never been there, I dream of it. There is something magical there. It looks like the city has remained frozen in the 50s. Otherwise I would like to do Japan too!
Your favorite animal?
The dog, without hesitation. I’ve had it since I was little, it’s a passion. Currently, I have a cross between a German Shepherd and a Wolfdog.
Do you have a phobia?
I’m afraid of heights, but really. Even a high bed can hurt me.
What is the thing that frustrates you the most?
The idiots! People who think only of themselves, individualists.
Do you have an idea ?
“It’s going to be fine”, quite simply!
What is your greatest pride?
What I am doing. That is to say my job. I am proud to be able to live from my passion.
