Cart – Betclic Elite. Adrien Moerman, before SLUC Nancy
Adrien, you only played one season in Nancy in 2011/2012. But what remains of it in your memories?
A good memory. Nancy is a very good public, it’s a very beautiful city, which loves the basket… The fans are special, they are always behind their team. We really liked it my wife, my daughter and me. Plus there was Nico (Nicolas Batum) who was there during the NBA lockout.
You are back in France after seven successful seasons in Spain and Turkey (1). Do you think the championship has changed since you left?
Yes. It’s a very athletic league where it runs a lot. The level of the championship is very high. I always say that it is starting to be just behind that of Spain. And now everyone can beat everyone. In Turkey, it was sometimes easier when we played against smaller teams, but that’s not the case here. We saw it yesterday (Sunday) with Cholet who beat ASVEL, and us who almost lost in Nanterre.
“We are going to have a little trouble at the start”
Monaco has high ambitions in France and in the Euroleague…
This is also what I liked about the project. And then I wanted to bring my experience and give back a little to the French basket what it had given me. It’s the start of the season, we have a great team but we’re going to have a little trouble at the start, but gradually we’ll find our cruising speed.
You play SLUC Nancy which has just beaten Limoges on Saturday and is in the dynamics of its end of last season. Are you expecting a complicated match?
Yes. Nancy has a very good team, will be at home and will play to a full house. We know that the atmosphere will be electric and that it will be difficult. It’s up to us to stay focused on what we have to do and respond present.
(1) He notably won the last two editions of the Euroleague with Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
