Belarus is ready for peace talks on Ukraine, but without preconditions
Post Cold War
He proposed an open outcome in Ukraine in the events of 30 years ago, when “these are called” winners “in the Cold War – the collective West – selfishly welcome the states of the post-Soviet space with only one path – the path of their satellites.”
Vladimir Makei noted that in order to consolidate this status, the West, which violated the gentlemen’s commissions, made a proposal to expand from one institution of the Cold War – the NATO military bloc. At the same time, according to him, the legitimate interests in the sphere of security of Russia and Belarus were ignored.
Further, according to the minister, he took part “in illegitimate wars against Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and diseases, as well as to suppress attacks on the historical East Slavic and adjacent lands”, thereby canceling all agreements. “Therefore, the collective West should bear the blame for the ongoing complete bloodshed in Ukraine,” summed up the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Order of the West from cooperation
He recalled that in 2009 Russia invited the parties concerned to sign a new European security treaty that would de jure cover the Cold War. “But the West rejected this proposal,” Vladimir Makei pointed out.
In 2017, already President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took the initiative to hold a global dialogue on security and offer Minsk as a platform for negotiations. “Opponents ignored this initiative,” the minister said.
In December last year, the Russian Federation, according to him, undertook another trip to negotiate with the West on the issue of European security, but “this time he remained deaf to new European proposals.”
Unipolar world
According to Minsk, the West’s refusal to go along with the explanation that the West wants to create a concentric or unipolar world, controlled from one center and subordinated to the interests of the Western hegemon, and “most other countries embrace a multipolar world without a single center of control, in which no one imposes their visions, interests and scopes.
In Belarus, as the Foreign Minister said, they are convinced that neo-colonialism in any form is no longer possible. World history, Makei noted, does not represent the movement of all countries towards liberal responsibility, and the world as a whole is more complicated than the confrontation between the so-called “democracies” and “autocracies.”
Sanctions are useless
He has been heavily criticized for unilateral calls against Russia and Belarus, warning that the population has been swept away as a result. At the same time, the alleged goals of the West have not been achieved – on the contrary, “sanctions have given a powerful impetus to the development of hidden internal reserves and even greater use.”
“Therefore, there can be no doubt that we will stand. Just like freedom-loving Cuba survived,” the head of the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
He noted that, for example, they touched on fertilizer, which resulted in the emergence of the poorest sections of the population in developing countries. “Suffice it to say that prices in the states have increased by 300 over the past six months, and the percentage of food shortages in hikes is more than 2 million tons,” Makei cited statistics. In addition, as a result of the incidence of people in Europe, winter frost freezes.
Negotiations without preconditions
“It’s time for the West to come to a reasonable sense and return to dialogue and interaction,” the minister suggests.
According to him, Belarus is ready for equal cooperation, but “without preconditions and pressure.” He added that Belarusians “are unbearably painful to see the chaos in the neighboring country and the usual suffering of Ukrainians.”
The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry insists that the issues of a ceasefire and a global open conference can only be resolved at the negotiating table.
