SEA LI joined the Oceanos Sem Plásticos Association to raise awareness of its effects on the Porto light initiative on beaches and its non-objective effects. The exhibition opens the season and will be on display at the return to school until the 18th of November.
The skein, measuring about 17km and weighing 1.3 tons, “is the result of the effort of around 200 people from North to South of the country, who replaced cables and ropes from the beaches for more than 250 hours”. The installation has already been in Lisbon and is now arriving at SEA LIFE Porto, where it will be on display until the 18th of November.
According to the same source, about eight million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year. It was in this sense that the aCORDA Portugal initiative was born, by the Oceanos Sem Plásticos Association, whose main objective is to draw attention to the “devastating” impact of garbage on the environment and which has the support of the Presidency of the Republic.
