From windows to the business cabin, Airbus auctions an A380 in spare parts in Toulouse
Most of the parts offered for sale of the A380 MSN 13 put into circulation in 2008 then dismantled in 2021, and the auction profits will be reversed at the Airbus Foundation and association AIRitage.
This Thursday, October 22, Airbus announced the organization of an exceptional auction. From October 13 to 15, the European aeronautical group will put on sale, in Toulouse, 380 batches of spare parts for its A380 aircraft. Will be offered for sale: portholes, seats, lights, food transport boxes but also works of art painted on the ends of the cabin.
From the bar of a business cabin to the outfit of the first pilot
Among the lots that would have caught the attention of collectors, the orange jumpsuit worn during the first flight of the prototype by pilot Claude Lelaie on April 27, 2005, an original sketch of the layout of an A380 corporate jet cabin, or again the bar of a business cabin.
On the unusual side, we find a toilet seat, a luggage compartment, exit signs, an emergency ax, a cot… All the lots sold are available here: day 1, day 2, day 3.
A charity sale
Most of the parts offered for sale of the A380 MSN 13 put into circulation in 2008 then dismantled in 2021, and the auction profits will be reversed at the Airbus Foundation and association AIRitage. A few years ago, a similar sale was organized around the Concorde. It had brought in 3.2 million euros.
