Toulouse: they see the ULM they have assembled flying
For a year and a half, about fifteen young people in vulnerable situations have been working on the assembly of an ultralight. Led by Aviation Sans Frontières, with the help of Arseaa-CFAS and other partners, their training site has just ended with the flight of their aircraft at the Lasbordes aerodrome.
Tuesday afternoon, at the Lasbordes aerodrome, they were able to see, not without pride, their ULM flying in the air. White and red, this famous Nynja, designed by sup’aero students in Toulouse, was assembled in the premises of Areseaa, by a handful of young people in a vulnerable situation. “This success serves as an example to all young people who do not know what to do. The aim of this project is to give them back a taste for learning through practical and concrete education,” says pilot Gérald Feldzer, president of Aviation sans Frontières. His NGO is one of the project leaders, such as Arseaa-CFAS (Specialized Apprentice Training Center), or Safran (for the engine), Allianz, Aéronaus, Gifas, Daher, etc.
It was Mathilde Totaro, an industrial engineer by training, who guided the fifteen young people throughout this training site, which lasted a year and a half. For her too, this first experience was wonderful. “I liked this transmission which taught me a lot about patience, rigor, interpersonal skills, the priorities of life…”, she slips. So much so that she decided to pursue her career as a specialized technical educator. Participating in the creation of an aircraft is very rewarding, Lucas, 19, knows something about it since he followed the first 5 months. Today, he recognizes that this interlude “taught him teamwork” and gave him self-confidence. Moreover, he will even soon reintegrate the CFAS to follow a new apprenticeship.
“This project allowed us to have a mediation tool to support young people towards professional integration, by allowing them to touch the doing, through this workshop, and to acquire a lot of knowledge”, underlines Linda Yousnaj, co-head of the CFAS unit at Arseaa.
This first school site project is a great success so much so that a second ULM has already been in preparation since September with a new group of young people. “I hope this one will be electric”, Gérald Feldzer.
