Toulouse. Nicolas Le Hir: “An excellent state of mind”
President of the Toulouse Métropole Triathlon and head of the Elite teams, Nicolas Le Hir draws up the balance sheet with maintenance in the elite.
We start with the women’s team, 11th overall before this last stage of September 10 in Saint-Jean-de-Monts (Vendée).
They complete the race in 15th place (out of 17, editor’s note). Fortunately, we had a little margin in the general classification for the maintenance. It really took a disaster to let this place in the elite slip away. In the end, the essential is there. They finish the championship in 14th position, the first non-relegated. For 2023, they will have to pass a course. For that, we will have to strengthen ourselves, not necessarily by bringing in other foreigners. In the short or medium term, their objective is to get closer to 10th place.
For its part, the men’s team, 7th overall before the ladder in Vendée, had already ensured maintenance. A relaxation was not an option, right?
Admittedly, the maintenance was in the pocket. But once again, in line with the values that we convey, the boys have fought a great battle. It should be noted that the plateau was really monstrous (with in particular an Olympic medalist, a triple world champion or the tricolor trio author of a triple at the European championship in individual, Editor’s note). The collective again made the difference. At the finish, they finished the stage in 8th position. And overall, like last season, they finished 7th. For 2023, we will also need this team, whose short or medium term objective is to get closer to the top 5.
The preparation for the 2023 championship will start around when?
Our triathletes still have a month on various competitions. Then they will cut in October. The resumption of training for the D1 should take place in early November. I insist once again on the excellent state of mind that reigns in our two teams. It really reflects the image of the club and it’s a point of pride.
