Formula 1: Monaco Grand Prix confirmed until 2025
La premier category of motorsport is evolving. While the 2023 season will feature a record 24 races, but no French Grand Prix, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has finally announced that the Monaco race, a questionable time, has been confirmed, and this until 2025.
Spa remains on the calendar in 2023
“I am happy to confirm that we will be racing in Monaco until 2025 and I am looking forward to returning to the streets of the famous Principality for next year’s championship on May 28,” said Stefano Domenicali, President. and managing director of Formula 1, the promoter of F1. The season will start on March 5 in Bahrain and end on November 26 in Abu Dhabi. The penultimate Grand Prix of the season will be held in Las Vegas, a new feature, while the Qatar Grand Prix returns to the calendar after a year’s absence. “The presence of 24 races on the calendar of the Formula 1 One World championship once again shows the growth and attractiveness of this sport on a global scale”, underlined the president of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, quoted by the FIA press release. The FIA also confirms the maintenance of the Belgian Grand Prix and the withdrawal of the French GP for 2023.
Three Grands Prix in the United States
The 2022 season was originally scheduled to run over 23 events, but Formula 1 decided in February to cancel the Sochi Grand Prix originally scheduled for September 25, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The 2023 season will therefore include three Grands Prix in the United States, Las Vegas (November 18), in addition to those of Miami (May 7) and Austin (October 22). “We are proud to announce a 2023 calendar with 24 races all over the world. Formula 1 is experiencing unprecedented demand to host races and it is important that we find the right balance (geographically) for this sport in general,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “We are very pleased with the dynamism that Formula 1 continues to enjoy and it is great news to be able to attract our passionate fans both to new places like Las Vegas and to events that we love so much in Europe, in Asia and the Americas,” he added.
