Digital platforms operating in Portugal associations to represent the sector – Society
As digital platforms to operate in Portugal, such as Bolt, Glovo and Uber, announced this Thursday the creation of an association whose objective is to represent and defend “with one voice” the interests of the sector.
The new Portuguese Association of Digital Applications (APAD), created on the initiative of Bolt, Glovo and Uber, “arises with the primary objective of aggregating and representing the main operators in the digital platform sector to develop activity in Portugal in the defense of their interests in common”, can be read in a statement from APAD.
The birth of APAD emerges as a “digital economy representation gap”, considered as a “digital economy representation gap”, in view of the adequate representation of the digital economy and in view of the different decision centers and specificities”.
“Because it is a very specific sector that presents itself as a business model with its own characteristics that must be considered, otherwise its differentiating concept will be distorted”, defends APAD.
In the document, the highlighted association intends a study by ISC Executive Education on “90% of digital delivery surveys in Portugal”.
The creation of the APAD at a time when the parliament changes to the labor law within the scope of the Decent Work Agenda, provisions are foreseen regarding the workers of digital platforms, namely a presumption of the existence of an employment contract.
“The creation of APAD arises in order to ensure that the sector may be able to operate in Portugal without restrictions that limit its reach, or that the scope of a business that has created enormous value in the economy and which is characterized by particularities that are an integral part and of its essence”, highlights the association
