Parking in Toulouse: where are the last free spaces?
Paid parking will further gain ground in Toulouse with its extension to three new sectors scheduled for November.
Since 2005, the year in which resident parking was introduced in Toulouse city center – that is to say, by subscription for local residents and paying for other motorists – the privilege of parking meters has only increased . To date, forty-five neighborhoods have adopted this system. So much so that there are no longer pockets of free parking in the center of Toulouse, neither at Cours Dillon, as for a long time, nor elsewhere…

The Canal du Midi belt was crossed several years ago. The Minimes, Matabiau, Guilheméry have thus converted to it. The Récollets district was the last to pass through in April 2022, after the Avenue Crampel sector in June 2021. The gradual progression is logical: in search of free spaces, motorists s move away and colonize neighboring districts.
And other sectors will in turn see the parking meters arrive. And this in November, according to the town hall: rue Déodora (near avenue Crampel), the sector of the Maurice-Sarraut alley (between the Patte d’Oie and the Arènes) and finally the Arago district (in Bonnefoy) .
With the agreement of the residents
The reason for paid and resident parking, which exists in all major cities, is simple: there is not enough space for all cars. “We must regulate so that everyone finds a place by allowing a rotation of vehicles”, regularly reminds Maxime Boyer, deputy mayor. And the proper functioning of this system also relies on control. The extension of resident parking is done systematically after consultation and approval of local residents.
