The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra launches its season
Didier de Cottignies, artistic delegate of the OPMC, reveals the main lines of the 2022-2023 season. On the program: great musicians, great works and an outstretched hand to classical music lovers who still don’t know each other.
For 2022-2023, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra has prepared a tailor-made program to please its regulars and attract new spectators. For the opening night, this Saturday 24 September, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky and Dvořák will be in the spotlight. Artistic Director Kazuki Yamada will be on stage with violinist Daniel Lozakovich. This 21-year-old Swedish virtuoso is causing a sensation all over the world and this season he is in residence at the OPMC.
Hits of classical music
Born in 1856, the Monegasque orchestra promises – as always – major symphonic concerts dedicated to key composers. For example, two evenings in tribute to Rachmaninoff are supposed to take place in October at the Auditorium Rainier III. At the end of January and beginning of February, it will be around Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
In the meantime, a historical highlight will enliven the fall. In fact, on Sunday October 16, the OPMC is offering a concert version of Dejanira. Camille Saint-Saëns created this opera in 1911 in Monte-Carlo. It is therefore programmed as part of the commemorations of the centenary of the disappearance of Prince Albert I. Indeed, Saint-Saëns is one of the composers with whom the great-grandfather of HSH Prince Albert II maintained bonds of friendship.
Among the many appointments of the OMPC this season we can also mention the concerts young audiencefilm-concerts or even them happy hour dedicated to chamber music. One thing is certain: the Principality’s orchestra warmly encourages laypeople to mingle with enthusiasts.
