Slovakia will not treat the Russians with gloves! The case of the alleged desecration of the cemetery has an end
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MZVEZ) of the Slovak Republic summoned the ambassador of the Russian Federation (RF) Igor Bratčikov in connection with recent statements about the alleged desecration of the military cemetery of soldiers of the Russian tsarist army in the village of Ladomirová in the Prešov region.
“The invented claims about the cemetery in Ladomírová serve as a tool of Russian propaganda in Slovakia,” they said from the communication department of the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Information activities of the Russian Embassy in Slovakia according to the Ministry’s intention to use a priority topic to divide society and spread an aggressive mood. “The accusations of the alleged destruction of the military cemetery in Ladomirova have not been confirmed in any way,” added the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and at the same time condemned the misuse of sacred places for the deliberate dissemination of misinformation.
“We will respond appropriately to further activities of this, as we must look for a type of destabilization of our society and our foreign policy orientation“He emphasized that not sanctifying sacred places is a criminal offense in Slovakia and the Department of Diplomacy harshly condemns and rejects such behavior.
Last week, the Russian embassy stated that the mayor of Ladomirová, Vladislav Cuper, had the graves leveled with excavators, and that it is therefore sending a diplomatic note to the Slovak Department of Diplomacy. The mayor responded that this was not true and the graves remained in their places. The police described the information of the Russian Federation as a hoax.
The MZVEZ confirmed for TASR that it had received a diplomatic note from the Russian Federation, “which, in a standard way, resigned to the relevant department, which in this particular case is the Ministry of the Interior”. The Ministry emphasized that Slovakia fully respects the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement from 1995 on the graves of fallen soldiers and civilian victims of war, and takes care of the graves and monuments of soldiers in an exemplary manner and with due respect.
