migrants from the Jules-Guesde alleys dislodged
The operation took place in “a serene climate”. This Tuesday morning, around thirty state agents received 141 young migrants for an administrative interview on site. The latter had been camping on the Jules-Guesde alleys in Toulouse since August 26, after being evicted from the squat of the former EHPAD des Tourelles.

141 young migrants supported
The Prefecture specified that 141 people presented themselves to the administrative services. Among them, 137 young people presented proof of their appeal pending before the children’s judge, as part of their request for recognition of minority. They will be accommodated in “an accommodation center or in a hotel, while their appeal is being examined, in which they will benefit from social and administrative support by a social operator from the State”, announces the Prefecture in a communicated.
Two adults are entering the asylum application process via the national reception system (DNA) and are also being accommodated from this Tuesday, September 20 by the State. Finally, two migrants were taken in charge by the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne, whose services were also present, for shelter and an assessment of their minority.

A request to the Court of Justice
Toulouse Métropole had filed, this Monday, September 19, 2022, a request with the Judicial Court of Toulouse. The latter demanded the eviction of the “current occupants without right or title” on the Jules-Guesde alleys. The first edile, Jean-Luc Moudenc, had also announced it to the representatives of the migrants concerned and to the associations which accommodate them. The mayor justified this request by invoking the following reason: “This land being devoid of the necessary safety and sanitation equipment, this occupation constitutes a manifest disturbance to public order”.
The situation had caused an outcry on the side of the opposition of the municipal majority. The deputy of NUPES and municipal councilor LFI, François Piquemal, had also spent a night under a tent with the migrants to denounce their difficult living conditions.
