In Toulouse, buildings where heating costs only a few tens of euros per year
In the midst of an energy crisis, the inhabitants of two buildings that have come out of the ground in the Ormeau district, in Toulouse, will escape skyrocketing bills. The architect behind these “passive” buildings explains how this is possible.
This is the second episode of our focus on initiatives in the region to save energy. In Toulouse, Ormeau district, there are buildings where residents are warm in winter and cool in summer, without needing to spend more a few tens of euros of energy per year.

It is constructions still quite marginal in the Pink City, inspired by the German model, “passive” and eco-responsible buildings. The secret ? A large insulation jacket from the outside, an airtight system and a double flow heat pump.
But this has a price: these buildings are 15 to 20% more expensive than other buildings.
Laurence Ryckwaert is the architect behind these two buildings, the night flight residence and the Courrier Sud Residence. She answers questions from Jeanne-Marie Marco.
