Near Toulouse, Carrefour employees on strike for a wage increase
Employees of a Carrefour logistics platform in Colomiers have been on strike since Thursday, September 15. They disagree with the national management of the group about the increase in wages, because of inflation.
The Carrefour logistics platform in Colomiers has been shut down since Thursday 15 September. About 9 out of 10 employees on permanent contracts at this depot, which supplies a good part of the Carrefour stores in the south-west, are on strike because of disagreements on the increase in wages and in particular on the review clause within the framework of the NAO (mandatory annual negotiations). “It’s a reopening of wage negotiations when we know the inflation rate“Explains Karim Chibou, Carrefour employee and CGT union representative.
“The management opened these exceptional negotiations at the beginning of September and offered us only a 2% increase. It’s not enough for us. We are very unhappy“, proclaims Karim Chibou. This strike is followed nationally, “18 out of 22 depots also on strike in the country“says Karim Chibou. A general assembly met this morning in the company in Colomiers to define the follow-up to be given to this movement. But the trend is for an extension : the employees of the stores of the group could also follow.
“We are waiting for a gesture from the national leadership. She decides” concludes Karim Chibou, determined to decide on the increase of his salary and those of his colleagues. Contacted, the management of Carrefour affirms that the negotiations are in progress, and “that the dialogue is permanent, in a period when subjects around purchasing power are complicated because of the inflationary context.“
