Charlène and Albert of Monaco, present but discreet
The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II took place this Monday, September 19, 2022. Charlène and Albert of Monaco were present, in all discretion, to pay their last respects.
Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96 at her castle in Balmoral. England was then plunged into 10 days of national mourning marked by numerous ceremonies in honor of the sovereign which ended on Monday, September 19, the day of the funeral. These began at 11:30 a.m. French time and the Queen’s coffin was then placed on the State Gun Carriage, pulled by soldiers to go from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey where the emotional ceremony took place.
The Queen’s four children: Charles III, Andrew of York, Anne and Edward were the first to walk behind the coffin, followed by grandchildren, Princes Harry and William. A total of 2,200 guests were present at the ceremony, including many personalities, crowned heads and heads of state. Charlène and Albert of Monaco did not miss the call and thus paid a last tribute to the sovereign. To do this, they arrived at the Abbey discreetly and for the occasion, the Princess of Monaco wore a long black dress, pumps, a brimless hat and a small bucket bag of the same color. The couple had previously attended a religious ceremony in his honor which took place in Monaco on September 11. The princess was then alongside Menna Rawlings, the ambassador of the United Kingdom in France and Monaco.
