The Toons Land in Toulouse
Les Toons Débarquent is an animation festival that will be held in Toulouse from September 19 to November 6. Cinephilae, association of arthouse cinema in Occitanie, coordinates this 11e editing.
Promote local creation, this is the objective of the Toons Débarquent. Created in 2011 by the town hall of Toulouse, the Metropolis and the Occitanie Region, this animation film festival will take place from September 19 to November 6, 2022 in the region. And its extensive programming is not just for children.
It is coordinated by Cinephilesa association of arthouse cinema between New Aquitaine and Occitania. Of the 90 local cinemas in the association’s network, 39 theaters show animated films for the festival, in Toulouse and Occitanie. On the program: previews, meetings, and animations (cinema-dance, cosplay, video game, cine-sound effects).
The highlights of the animation festival program
Over these almost two months of programming, the most important festival event in Toulouse is surely CartoonForum, dedicated to animation professionals in Europe. An event that will take place from September 19 to 22.
It allows to meet for example Mathieu Courtois, producer of the award-winning film “Flee” (crystal for best feature film at Annecy 2021) or even Amandine Fredon, director of the film “Le Petit Nicolas – What are we waiting for to be happy? (Cannes 2022 selection, crystal for best feature film at Annecy 2022).
Another highlight of the festival is to be found within the framework of the program “I’m doing a drawing for you? “. Seven authors from Occitanie will be honoredr with the screening of seven short films produced or shot in the region.
